Q & A with Jen
What lead you on your path to become an Esthetician?
When I was 20 years old, I moved to San Francisco. I was working beauty retail jobs and discovered I was drawn to the more hands-on aspects of my job. I was receiving a lot of training on how to sell skincare and how to apply makeup and was hooked. Instead of continuing the retail management track I decided to go to beauty school and become a licensed esthetician. I also continued to learn and practice makeup artistry doing makeovers, weddings and some film and magazine work.
Why do you choose to use evanhealy in your practice?
I use evanhealy in my professional skincare practice because the products work in harmony with the skin. I know that no matter what a client is dealing with, they will walk out with glowing, balanced and nourished skin after just one treatment. I never have to worry about harming someone and I love having the opportunity to share Evan’s philosophies on supporting and caring for the skin as we age. There is something in the evanhealy line that can benefit anyone regardless of age, gender or skin condition.
What lead you to evanhealy?
I first encountered evanhealy products around 2007 when I was doing event work with other brands. I have used many products throughout my career but resonated with evanhealy immediately.
How long have you been practicing?
I have been a licensed esthetican for 23 years, first in California and now in Texas since 2004.
What is the most fulfilling thing about your work?
The most fulfilling thing about my work as that my facial practice gets deeper and richer with each treatment I complete. I have a great respect for the evanhealy products and philosophies, and I feel lucky to get to weave them into my skincare practice and my daily life. Being a holistic esthetician is my life’s work and there is always more complimentary modalities to learn and more ways to grow. I remain curious and open to learning every day.
Can you tell us a little about your practice?
My facial practice is at an evanhealy destination spa located within a bed and breakfast in the beautiful Texas hill country. It sits on three acres at the edge of Cypress Creek in Wimberley, Texas and is home to an amazing on-site garden and surrounded by Cypress trees — some of which are thousands of years old. It is a healing and sacred space, and I love that my clients get to stay there and connect with nature before after their time in the spa.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by nature: hiking, spending time in my garden, taking classes and making healing remedies for my family.
What other interests do you have outside of esthetics?
I am a student of herbalism and regularly practice yoga. I also have an amazing family that I spend as much time with as possible.
What is your favorite product and/or combination of products?
I usually have a different favorite set of products each season. I re-evaluate my skincare every three or four months and usually there are a few products that I am drawn to that are different than what I was using the previous season. Currently, I am reaching for Patchouli Rose Cleansing Milk, Immortelle HydroSoul, and Sanctuary Serum.
What is your personal evanhealy ritual?
I saturate my skin with as much HydroSoul as possible. I love all of them and rotate through several at any given time. I also rotate through oil serums, right now I’m using Sanctuary Serum. I love all the body products especially Vetiver Hinoki Body Butter and Body Oil. I always finish my daily skincare ritual with the Tinted Oil Serum Foundation in Shade 20 and Brow Pomade in Taupe or Dark Brown. I do a weekly mask with Green Tea Clay Mask, nothing else refines my skin in the same way. I also never leave my house without a quick meditative application of perfume oil. My current favorites to combine are Rose Perfume and Sandalwood Perfume.
