As we approach the midway point between fall equinox and winter solstice, it gives us an opportunity to transition to a darker and slower time of year. At this time the earth invites us to take a journey into this magical liminal season.
Along with the growing darkness, here is a skincare ritual that will provide protection and sanctuary while offering the perfect opportunity for quiet restoration. This ritual utilizes the power of purifying Green Tea Clay, soothing Immortelle Hydrosoul and nourishing Sanctuary Serum & Sanctuary Butter.

For this ritual we suggest finding a comfortable spot and lighting a candle of your choice.
C L E A N S E
Cleanse skin with a cleanser of your choosing. We love oil cleansing before a shea mask with Neem Immortelle Purifying Infusion, Nourishing Cleansing Oil, or one of our Body Oils, as the massaging from oil cleansing best prepares the skin to receive all the nourishment, but any cleanser will work well.
M A S S A G E
Take two fingertips (about a ½ teaspoon) of Sanctuary Butter and melt between your palms, distributing over your hands and fingers. Begin to massage into your face and neck, starting at the jaw and working up the face in slow, rhythmic motions, and then working down the neck and even decolletage if you’d like.
R E S T
Allow to rest for ten to thirty minutes. We love to take a still moment here to relax, set intentions, meditate, or enjoy a cup of herbal tea (warming golden milk, ginger, turmeric or rooibos chai are good choices).
S T E A M
The key step of (Sanctuary) Shea Masking is steam. Take a washcloth and submerge it into hot water, wringing it out to remove excess moisture. Place the steamy cloth over your face, pressing slowly and gently into the cheeks, forehead and chin. Repeat 3-4 times until all the Sanctuary Butter is absorbed and skin feels supple and resilient.
G R E E N T E A C L A Y M A S K I N G
In a small bowl, put a teaspoon of Clay and dribble water or one of our HydroSouls. Mix until a creamy consistency is reached. Apply all over skin with small mask brush or fingertips. Allow to dry. Drying times and thickness may vary and average between 10 – 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
O I L A N D W A T E R R I T U A L
Saturate your skin with an abundant misting of Immortelle HydroSoul, pressing the droplets into your skin.
Add about 5 drops of Sanctuary Serum into palm of hand. To that, add generous misting of Immortelle HydroSoul to Oil Serum - 5 to 7 sprays. Combine the two together between palms of hands.
Press the Sanctuary Serum + Immortelle HydroSoul into face evenly distributing between cheeks, forehead and chin.
Finish with misting of Immortelle HydroSoul.
For drier skin or added protection, apply more Sanctuary Butter on top of Sanctuary Serum.
