Each month $1 from every bottle of our Sanctuary Collection goes to a different non-profit organization that supports human rights and environmental justice. This month, $1 from every bottle goes directly to Black women & girls to access therapy sessions through The Loveland Foundation.
The Loveland Foundation
The Loveland Foundation was established in 2018 by author, lecturer and activist Rachel Cargle in response to her widely successful birthday wish fundraiser, Therapy for Black Women and Girls. Her enthusiastic social media community raised over $250,000, which made it possible for Black women and girls nationally to receive therapy support. The Loveland Foundation is the official continuation of this effort to bring opportunity and healing to communities of color, and especially to Black women and girls.
Through their Therapy Fund, The Loveland Foundation provides financial support to Black women and girls seeking therapy nationwide. Through partnerships with Therapy for Black Girls, National Queer & Trans Therapists of Color Network, Talkspace, Black Female Therapists and more, they link mental health professionals with Black women and girls around the country to access therapy sessions, healing and validation, while breaking down stigmas in mental health through social media programming, group therapy sessions, therapist proefssional development and more.
“The therapy fund can completely shift our understanding of what therapy is, so that we begin to understand therapy as more of a maintenance of ourselves, as opposed to a last resort, rock bottom situation.”
~ Rachel Cargle
This year, The Loveland Foundation has been expanding to provide additional wellness resources to participants as well as professional development opportunities to therapists in their network. Donations in the upcoming year will support their goal of providing 50,000 hours of free therapy sessions, as well as go toward creating a scholarship program for women of color who are interested in pursuing mental health as a career. The Foundation is also working on creating an online portal that will offer curated wellness videos and exclusive wellness experiences, and serve as a safe and supportive online community for all participants.
Black women and girls deserve access to healing, and that healing will impact generations. We encourage you to donate directly to The Loveland Foundation and tangibly tell these women and girls, “We see you, we hear you, and we are invested in your healing.”
