Creamy, protective, simple nourishment. Did you know our customer-favorite Wild Carrot Nourishing Eye Balm can be used all over the face to help seal in moisture? This is one of our favorite ways of using this delicious and decadent balm.
Grounding, earthy and herbaceous, Wild Carrot Balm provides an abundance of luscious lipids and antioxidants to nourish, soften, smooth and protect all skin.
Using it as an all-over face balm is a dream in autumn + winter for skin or year-round for skin that needs that extra layer of moisture-locking. This extra layer, though light-weight, is quite formidable.
Preventing Trans-Epidermal Water Loss
Three of the central ingredients in this formula — beeswax, shea butter and cocoa butter — are all known to prevent trans-epidermal water loss. Trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) is when the epidermis loses water through evaporation to our external environment. When fall and winter meander in and we’re jumping from frosty weather to artificially heated cars, buildings, and homes — or into the recycled air of moisture-zapping airplanes — it can begin to take a toll on the skin and our chances of TEWL increase.
While the twice-daily application of an oil serum + hydrosol provides profound hydration, moisture, and nourishment — if you’re still struggling with dryness and dehydration it may be a sign you’re experiencing TEWL. The solution? Simply seal in that beautiful moisture and nourishment you get from your oil+hydrosol application, using either our Wild Carrot Nourishing Eye Balm, or one of our Whipped Shea Butter, as a final layer in your ritual.

Wild carrot seed (Daucus carota — aka Queen Anne’s Lace) is one of our most beloved plant allies for skin care, so much so that we use it in five of our most foundational products (both Rosehip Serums, both Day Moisturizers, and our Eye Balm). Distilled from the seeds of this prana-rich and dynamic wildling — the essential oils is profoundly revitalizing and tonifying. It brings life back to dull, tired skin, minimizes the appearance of scars and hyperpigmentation, smoothes unevenness, and cultivates a radiance, strength, and vitality to the skin that’s incomparable.
